Happy New Year!

As 2015 coming to an end, I am able to squeeze one last post.
This was an interesting year. I could look at it as a year of big plans and not so big accomplishments. Let's just say the my plans for 2015 didn't work out as I hoped. But I choose to look on the things I did accomplish. The biggest one is opening my own business - Maya Crafts.  If you didn't see my Facebook page yet, go take a look and let me know what do you think. It will mean a lot to me.

2016 is looking good. I am optimistic (as always), and excited to start a new chapter. Bring it on!

I made the next card for Scrappy Hands embroidery challenge. There is still time to enter!

I hand stitched around few circles with gold thread and added a gold diecut snowflake.

P.S. I've been a lousy blogger and follower in 2015. If you wrote a post about your scrapbooking or life plans for 2016 leave me a note. I would love to read!

Scrappy Hands challenge 52

Another Sunday and another Scrappy Hands challenge. (One day I need to share what I am doing during the two weeks between Scrappy Hands challenges. ) This week the challenge theme is Zipper.

A little unusual for paper crafting blog, right? Lucky I had the last piece of the CTMH zipper ribbon. It think it is retired now. I used it to decorate the edge of my card and just added few chipboard embellishments.

Supplies: cardstock (Teresa Collins), chipboard (American Crafts), zipper ribbon (CTMH), letter stickers (Simple Stories), pearls (KaiserCraft)

I added brown pearls to the ice cream cone and few letter stickers to the chipboard banner.

That was a very quick card, a great way to use up those chipboard embellishments that didn't find their way to my layouts.

Scrappy Hands Challenge 51 - Fall

Another two weeks disappeared which means it is time to share another Scrappy Hands challenge. The new challenge theme is Fall. I drew my inspiration from the fall colors and the beautiful leaves that right now cover every yard, park and road here in the North East.

I used patterned paper from my old stash (Cloud 9, anyone?), seam binding ribbon and a metal leaf.

I added a sentiment with letter stickers and a row of dark brown pearls.

I love using supplies from my old stash. What about you? What is the oldest paper that you keep?

Scrappy Hands Challenge 50 - Gold

Another two weeks flew by and it is time for another Scrappy Hands challenge

The theme is Gold so it was only natural to use some of the pretty papers from the Studio Gold collection by Teresa Collins.

I used one of the gallery art postcard that I matted on a piece of matching cardstock.

I added some hand stitching with gold embroidery thread, a sentiment that I cut with Silhouette Cameo from gold vinyl and few sparking jewels.

Check the beautiful projects from other team members and share your take on the challenge with us.

Scrappy Hands Challenge 49 - Denim

Hello my dear blog readers!

So what did we have in the past 2.5 months??  In August I visited my family in Israel. In September the kids started school, we celebrated Rosh HaShanah and the last few weeks were filled with homework, college visits and all kids of other meetings and important things. My crafting time is really gone to minimum so any creative work I do makes me very happy.

Especially when I have such cute pictures to scrap.
I found these cute Lila's selphies on my phone and I wanted to make a layout with them the second I saw them. So cute!

I decided to use them for the last Scrappy Hands challenge. The theme of the challenge is "Denim"

I started with white and blue cardstock, 4 pictures that I printed at home and layers of 4x6 and 2x3 cards from  the Project Life Teen mini kit.

Supplies: cardstock (Recollections), cards (Becky Higgins), cork arrow and heart stickers (Freckled Fawn), tab punch (Fiskars), denim ribbon

I added few embellishments and used one of the cards as my title. The denim ribbon came from an old pair of jeans :)

I pulled out my Fiskars tab punch to make two little tabs - one for the date and another one for few words of journaling.

Prom shadowbox

Hello my blog readers!

This past Saturday I was able to carve out some "me time" and made this layout with a picture from Lila's prom photo shoot. I printed it few weeks ago hoping that I will find some time to work on it.

First of all I have to give a credit to Neta Gafni for the gorgeous picture.

Supplies: carstock (unknown), patterned paper (Teresa Collins), letters (American Crafts), film ribbon (Tim Holtz), heart and border punch (Fiskars), jewels (Recollections), ink (Tim Holtz)

I used a sketch from Scrappy Hands blog,

From the beginning I planned to use a shadow box and lots of layers. I cut few strips of paper, inked the edges and used layers of foam tape to make the waves.

The film ribbon is curled and stapled to the page.

I couldn't get a good picture of the shadow box you can get an idea. I plan to do two smaller boxes with the pictures from the same photo shoot for Lila's room.

Check what other DT members did for this challenge and share your take on the sketch with us.

Hello, my dear blog readers!

This is going to be a quick post. I just wanted to share a card I made for the Scrappy Hands new challenge. The theme is "clock".

I used some oldies on this one - Heidi Swapp chipboard. I also added a doily and few punched out birdies. The sentiment was designed in Silhouette Studio and cut from vinyl.

Scrappy Hands Challenge #42 - Animals

Hello my dear blog readers! I made a layout! Finally! LOL

The theme for the new Scrappy Hands challenge is animals so I just had to use a picture from our recent visit to the Toledo Zoo.

I used a mix of papers from the BoBunny Zoology line and a custom kit made for Milwaukee Public Zoo by Scrapbook Customs.

I added pearl dots with Liquid pearls in Buttercup, Rouge and Silver.

The letter stickers are by Simple Stories.

One zoo picture done, gazillion more to go :)

June Love My Tapes projects

As June is coming to the end I thought I will do a quick post and share few Love My Tape projects that I didn't share on my blog.

The first is a simple card set. I used several different washi tapes in black.

More details about the cards are here, on Love My Tapes blog.

Here I used a set of fabric tape to alter a cardboard box. The fabric really takes this box from blah to wow. Love how it turned out!

More details about this project can me found here.

Spend some time checking the Love My Tapes blog - new post every day with tons of inspiration!

Paper baskets

Hello my dear blog readers!

Before one crazy week comes to an end and another crazy week begins I want to share a super quick project I made for the Scrappy Hands "Basket" challenge.

Last week I made a card, this week I decided to make a real basket, well, at least a paper basket. A quick search on pinterest brought up this easy tutorial. I used paper from Shimelle's collection for American Crafts.

It took me not more than 10 minutes to make all three baskets. The large one is made out of 9"x9" square, the middle from 7.5"x7.5" and the smallest basket is made of 6"x6".

I added rosettes that I made before from Love My Tapes fabric tapes but they looked adorable even without the rosettes.

I think I will keep them around my scrap studio to store all the little doodads and scraps that are getting out of control!

Stop by the blog to see what other DT members made this week and share your take with us.

Three cards from the last week

Good morning!
I always write my blog posts at night and usually it is the last thing that gets done. If it's get done... But I am itching to share my last three cards that I did for various design team assignments, so I am going to check off this blog post from my to-do list right now!

The first card for made to "Baskets" challenge over at Scrappy Hands blog.

I cut out a big basket from vinyl and filled it with bunch of felt, fabric and paper flowers. That simple!

Obviously, I had to add some bling!

The next card was posted on Love My Tapes blog. I used pretty washi tapes to make a background and added a journlaing card and handmade paper flowers.

I cut the flower layers from white cardstock and misted them with Glimmer Mist in Valentine Pink and Mr. Hueye's in Mary Mary.

The last one was for the June Scrap It Girl challenge. We had to use buttons, brads and bling.

I used pretty paper from Pink Paislee and Fiskars butterfly squeeze punch.

I layered two punched butterflies in different colors and added a matching brad to the center.

I would love you to check all the links, see what other DT members did for these challenges and maybe even share your take with us.

Now back to my to-do list.

White on white card

Hello again! Two posts in two days, that is unusual here!

But I do have a super cute card to share so it couldn't wait. I made it for the Scrappy Hands White on White challenge. I love monochromatic cards and this one was so fun to make!

Usually my monochromatic cards are clean an simple but with this one I went for layers and textures.

I picked different paper scraps from my white paper scraps drawer and just randomly layered them on the card. I added white polka dot Making Memories frame (remember them??), a diecut heart that I had on my desk, some white ribbon, a piece of lace and few jewels and pearls.

I finished the card with a wood veneer birdie that I inked with white ink and letter stickers.

So here it is - sweet card made completely out of scraps and pieces I had laying around.

Check what other DT members did here and share your white on white project. We even  have a prize this week!

Washi Tape Projects

Hello there! I hope am not talking to myself here. Sadly my New Year resolution to blog more often doesn't work that well and that's too bad. I have a lot of news to share, some of them very exciting, but that will have to wait just a little more. Meanwhile I want to share a layout I did for Love My Tapes design team.

More details on the layout are here

Here is another Love My Tapes DT project that I didn't share - card with wide floral washi tape.

Read more about the card here.

That't it for today. I will try my best not to disappear, actually I have another project to share tomorrow,
