Card from the East

While cleaning up my desk desk after making the last two layouts I decided to use the scraps from "The Far East" stack to make a card. I used the January DCWV sketch. 

I added the gold Teresa Collins letter stickers and few sequins from my stash to compliment the foils accents of the paper. The punched border was made with Martha Stewart punch.

P.S. I would love to know what the Chinese characters mean. Anyone?

Sunbathing beauties - Scrappy Hands layers challenge

Happy Sunday my dear blog readers!

Today I am sharing another layout with pictures from out visit to the Japanese Gardens in IL. I made this layout for the Scrappy Hands Layers challenge and as in my last layout I used layers and layers of pretty paper from "The Far East" paper stack.

Supplies: patterned paper (DCVW), pearls, washi tape (Bo Bunny), metal clip (Maya Road), gold leafing pen (Krylon), vinyl (Oracal), Silhouette Cameo

I wanted to use the camera clip but I didn't like that fact that it is silver. Gold leafing pen to the rescue! I colored the clip to match the gold foil accents of the paper and the gold vinyl title.

I did some fussy cutting and finished with the page with pearls and a piece of washi tape that holds the paper clip in place.

Japanese Gardens - DCVW January sketch challenge

This past summer we made a road trip to Wisconsin to visit friends. When I plan a long drive I always like to plan stops and do some sightseeing. Let's just say that my planned stops were not met with much enthusiasm. I gave Ella a guidebook and told her that she can plan our trip back,

She chose to visit the Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, IL. We arrived there after rainy morning and just before a very stormy afternoon but we still got about an hour of sunny weather and were able to explore the gardens.

I have few layouts planned with the pictures from our visit and here is the first. I used the January sketch from the DCVW blog and "The Far East" stack. I did a lot of layering and didn't use any embellishments. The pictures and the beautiful papers with foil accents do all the talking here.

Supplies: patterned paper (DCVW), washi tape (Love My Tapes), border punch (Fiskars)

I added a punched border to one of the photo mats and added gold washi tape border to the other.

I plan to do a companion page with other pictures from the so I left that one without a title.

"The Far East" paper stack is very pretty, I can see myself using every single paper, I just wish it would come with translation :)

Basket of my own

I have a new post up on Love My Tapes blog. This time I am weaving fabric tapes to make a background for the pictures from the basket weaving workshop I did two weeks ago.

I enjoyed it so much, I feel the new hobby is sneaking up on me!

In addition to lovely fabric tapes I used a bunch of old chipboard letters and stickers from my stash.

I added a journaling card from one of my Project Life kits that don't get much use lately.

What do you think? Should I pick up basket weaving? What is your second favorite hobby?

My Heart Belongs to You - Scrappy Hands layers challenge

Is it Sunday again? The first full week of January went too fast for me. I tried new yoga place, took girls to have their eyes checked, went to the College planning session at the high school (what?? college??) and spent some time checking the new CHA releases. I had fun making my wish list, hope to get one or two new releases to play .

Meanwhile I pulled out some very very old papers from Cloud 9 and made a layout with Eli's pictures from last February. I used lots and lots of layers since I made it for Scrappy Hands layers challenge.

Supplies: patterned paper (Cloud 9), enamel hearts (Teresa Collins), Miss Kate Cuttables cut file, vinyl, Silhouette Cameo

The title is a cut file from Miss Kate Cuttables and I cut i in vinyl - so much easier than the paper.

I cut out few hearts from the patterned paper and added them with foam tape and also sprinkled few enamel heart shapes.

Love notes from my son

Hello Sunday!
Today the Scrappy Hands Design team shares another take on the "Squares" challenge. Last week I made a New Year card and today I am sharing a layout. I don't remember when last time I made a layout without any pictures but I really wanted to save these sweet love motes from Eli and decided that they deserve a separate layout.

I used few patterned papers from Teresa Collins "Save the date" collection and added miscellaneous scraps from my stash.

The last note has my name on the back so instead of gluing it down I used photo corners.
The title and the black hearts are cut from vinyl with Silhouette Cameo.

Scrap It Girl January Challenge - Snowflakes

Hello my dear blog readers! We made it to 2015!

While I am still working on my 2015 goals and resolutions that I plan to share later, I am happy to share my first layout of 2015 made for the Scrap It Girl January challenge.

The challenge is "snowflakes" and since we are having a snowless winter here in NJ (not complaining) I went back to the last year that had plenty of snow.

I made a simple collage in Picasa and printed it on my home printer. I used some old Bo Bunny papers, rubons (didn't use these in ages) and stickers.

I printed the journaling and added a frame cut out of Jenni Bowlin journaling card.

More rubons, stickers, and Martha Stewart vellum sticker.

Love My Tapes - a layout and a card

Before 2014 comes to an end I want to share my last two DT projects for Love My Tapes.

I made a sparkly layout with handcut washi tape hearts that I stitched to the page.

I used Love My Tapes lace tape (and bunch of paper scraps) to make this monochromatic card.

Happy 2015!

In just 4 more days we are going to welcome 2015. It it hard to believe, I feel only yesterday we were all talking about the 2K bug... And here it is - 2015!  Ready or not, it is knocking on ours doors, so we might just welcome it.

I am welcoming the new year with sparkly card. The design was inspired by the Scrappy Hands "Squares" challenge. I used beautiful papers by Teresa Collins from her Studio Gold collection.
I cut 4 polka dot squares and added the numbers that I cut from gold vinyl using Silhouette Cameo.

The word happy is also cut from vinyl. Who needs to buy stickers when you can make anything you want with Silhouette?

I love how it turned out and hope my 2015 as bright and happy as this card.

Keep calm and light on

Two days before Hanukkah!! I should check the calendar more often. Feel totally not ready.

Except maybe in the decorations department. I try to make a Hanukkah decor project every year.Some of my favorites are this shadowbox and this star mini-album.

This year I made another shadowbox. I was inspired by the Scrappy Hands challenge 28 - Light

I used white 8x8 shadow box frame that I filled with small wood dreidels. I used blue glitter vinyl to cut the words and Crafting Jewish Style Hanukkah paper for the background.
