We will announce the Blog Hop Winner on Monday, 08/19 on Samantha's Facebook Page.
This year back to school time will be extra special for me since my youngest will start Kindergarten.
Our new home town doesn't have school buses and we are planning on walking to school if the weather will cooperate. To prepare him for the start of the school year I decided it will be fun to make a home-to-school map. (Any Dora the Explorer fans here?)
I used the new Samantha Walker alphabet letter to make School and Home. Eli helped me by choosing the colors of the cardstock and by pressing the Enter button on the Silhouette. In the few weeks left before the school we will practice our walk and will draw a map to hang in his room.
I hope that the map will help him to feel more confident on his first day of school.

The maps are such a great idea! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea Maya! After he is comfortable with the route you could also use those pieces to mark folders for what goes to school and what is important for home!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea!
DeleteFun! Best wishes on the new school year.

ReplyDeleteSo cute! My boy starts kindergarten this year too.
ReplyDeleteThat is such an adorable idea! I love it. There must be a part of you that is a bit sad, your youngest is starting school. They grow up so fast, my youngest is a 6th grader this year, yikes!
ReplyDeleteHugs, antonella :-)
Adorable! Such a great idea for small kids! :o)
ReplyDeleteI love those letters with the images- I just saw them on the Silhouette today- I never thought to make them that large, but that's a great idea, especially for a younger child to use as a flash card type item- just back it with a heavier cardstock or chipboard. It would be awesome to decorate a wall in a child's room with using magnetic paint and have a magnet on the back of the letter or cut the shape on magnetic sheet (albeit, expensive) small strips of the magnetic sheet would probably be better.
ReplyDeleteThese turned out fantastic! Love how your son is displaying them proudly. Looks like he enjoyed the project with you. You were so quick to use them, as they just barely entered the store. Thanks for all your hard work! I appreciate you!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute project idea, one that I would like to do with my grandchildren. Love it!
ReplyDeleteA very creative way to mark a map. I'm sure your son appreciated the novel way to show him how to get from Point A to Point B. Much more fun than stickpins.
ReplyDeleteSo fun! what a handsome kid!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute Maya - and the little guy too!
ReplyDeleteLoved your project.
