Scrap That Baby - Prompt 6 : It is all about the belly

That was a fun prompt! I don't have any layouts with the pictures of me pregnant with Eli, so I was anxious to see how it will turn out. Going through my pregnancy pictures I found few from the same day Eli was born. We already knew that it is going to happen but I was still functioning - me and Ofir's mom Ziona cleaned the fridge, folded the laundry, timed contractions - fun stuff :)

So here is me, just 5 hours before Eli's grand entrance. For the background I used the technique I learned from Dani's paint tutorial I filled a mini spray bottle with acrylic paint and water and used it with Heidi Swapp mask.

Tuesday Trio sketch #19

Here is quick layout I put together last night. It based on Tuesday Trio sketch #19
At first I wasn't so crazy about the triangles in the background but I just love the layout. The adorable little boy is my nephew.

Dimensional Details - week 8

Week 8 was a gala week for Dimensional Details class, lots of inspirational layouts and some time to catch up on the precious weeks. I was able to download and read the handouts only on Wednesday, the last day of week 8 but I was determined to finish the assignment since it sounded so much fun. Nic asked us to list our 5 favorite scrapbooking products and make a layout using them.

Here is my current list:
1. Patterned paper - small and quiet designs for the background and big, bold designs to cut out and use as embellishments
2. Border punches - love them!
3. Making Memories small letter stickers (I also have something similar by EK Success)
4. Dimensional adhesive (pop dots)
5. Raindots, pearls, rhinestone swirls.

Here is my layout. I really wanted to scrap the pictures from the weekend so my product choices were affected but the bright yellow t-shirt we were wearing.

After I made the layout I realized that I didn't use the border punch and didn't use the letter stickers but that's ok. I used Glimmer Mist that is also one of my favorites and curled edges work almost like a border punch.

I used Basic Grey chipboard and stickers as a mask and sprayed Slate Glimmer Mist. I used some of this chipboard to embellish the layout.

I sanded the edges of the photos and added some clear dimensional adhesive to the centers of the flowers.

Plantable seed flowers

Another project that I did last week but didn't have time to share. This time for the Fiskateers message board. As some of you know (and if you are a fiskateer I certainly hope you do know) I am a co-chair of the Kids Craft Committee. Every month my partner Amy and myself are sharing simple craft project for kids. The theme for our May projects was flowers. I was thinking hard and long (so long that I missed my deadline) what cute project I can do with a flower punch but nothing original and doable came to my mind. One day I stumbled across this tutorial for plantable seeded paper flowers. It was exactly what I was looking for. Instead of rolling the flowers we can punch them out. Much easier for kiddos. So here it is.

1. Punch out flowers from the paper scraps
2. Make a mixture of flour and water and brush the mixture on to the flowers. Sprinkle flower seeds.
3. Let it dry. The flower petals with curl up
4. Punch a hole in the middle of the flowers and use pipe cleaners for stems. Twist the pipe cleaner to secure the flower.

Twisted Sketch #50 - Old

With all the craziness of the last week I didn't share my layout for Twisted Sketches. The twist for sketch #50 is "old" - any how, any way.

I was thinking about what old things I can use on my layout but than remembered about the field trip that my daughter took with her class few years ago. I think it was the only field trip that I went to with her and I took a lot of pictures.

I replaced the bigger picture on the sketch with a collage of smaller pictures.

I liked the Lil'Davis cardstock stickers that have an old feel but they looked a little lost against the busy background so I went around the edges with blue souffle pen.

I think the little outhouse was a highlight of the trip. I found a chipboard house and painted it with white distress crackle paint.

The post that never happened

Last night I started to write a blog post. It was mainly about how tired I am and what a busy week I had. In the middle of that Lila came and said she doesn't have any clothes to wear to school. It was going to be 85F today and all her shorts from the last year are small. It was 8:20pm. We jumped into the car and raced to Kolhs. I said you have 15 minutes to look for the clothes and 15 minutes to try them on. In 30 minutes, just before the store was closed we were checking out with 4 pairs of shorts and 7 tops. That's what I call speedy shopping! But when we came back Eli needed some mommy time and I couldn't finish my post.

I was going to tell that yesterday me and Lila went to the annual figure skating club banquet. For the banquet I made 2 albums for our team coaches with the pictures from the season and thank you notes from the girls. 15 8x8 double spreads for each album

Saturday night I finally realized that yes, I can make them on time, than I run out of the adhesive. It was bad, because Sunday morning we were supposed to do a 5K for Mequon Education Foundation. So we woke up, walked 5K , after that I run to Michael's to get more adhesive and page protectors, back home, finished the pages, sorted, showed Lila how to slide them into the page protectors, shower, put the albums together and hop into the car - 50 minutes drive to the banquet. I came home exhausted (and that's before after our little shopping trip to Kohls) But I love how the albums turned out.
And here we are Sunday morning, ready for the 5K

I have few other things to share but it will have to wait - too many things on my endless to do list.

Oh, and this morning I had 291 unread posts in my Google Reader. So if I didn't comment on your blog for a while you know why. I will get there, I promise.

I saw this on Sharyn's blog this morning. Open the 8th picture folder on your computer and find the 8th picture. Look what I found - my mom and me dancing at my wedding. Ofir is in the background, right behind me.I loved my dress, the hair was a disaster and overall I was way too nervous to enjoy my wedding. Did I say that I loved my dress?

Scrap That Baby - Prompt 5: Fun and Games

It is 15th of the month - time for the new prompt at Scrap That Baby. For this prompt Sarah wants you to make a layout about your baby playing or just having fun. Or you can make a toy or a game for the baby. The projects are due on May 30th.

I found those old (2003!) pictures of my girls having fun at the playground in Olesh. I made a frame from the piece of felt using my Fiskars pinking shears and stitched it to the layout. I kept everything else simple - few chipboard tags, handcut flowers and a lot of pop-dots.

Touch of Glaze

New layout from last night based on Janna's challenge to use a fancy die-cut paper. I pulled out this Basic Gray lace paper and tried it on different backgrounds - white, black, cream, blue. the blue looked the best so I chose it. Only after that I started to look for the pictures to scrap. In my 2007 storage binder I found those pictures from my birthday. It was a year when we actually did something for my birthday - we went to Touch of Glaze. I finished this page with few paper scraps and acrylic embellishments. Not my usual way of scrapbooking but it worked.
